STEM Aluminum Foil Boats

STEM- Aluminum Foil Boats: I'm doing a STEM lesson with a kindergarten class. These are some pictures of some boats I made before my lesson. I can't wait to see all of the students wonderful creations! The students will be making boats and then seeing if they will float in water. The students will also add pennies to see which boat will hold the most.

What is digital storytelling? 

Digital storytelling incorporates a variety of multimedia such as audio narration, music, video, and still images to tell a story. There are several reasons why digital storytelling is effective in the classroom. One reason is it develops students communicative skills. Digital storytelling can help a student who is shy or afraid to talk in class get a chance to speak their mind. There are many Apps that can be used for digital storytelling. A few examples of Apps are My Story, Toontastic, Telestory, and Pic Collage. These Apps can be beneficial in the classroom because they are easy to use, fun, and allow the students to express themselves. I believe digital storytelling will help the teacher as well as the student. The teacher can introduce new material through digital storytelling. If new material is presented with storytelling it may help the student connect better with the subject. Digital storytelling all around is a great method in the classroom.

Introduction:

I'm a graduate of Douglas high school class of 2012. I have my Associates degree from Snead State Community College. I am 22 years old and a mother to a beautiful four month old baby girl. I have two siblings where I am the oldest. I chose to become an educator for the simple fact of I want to impact and inspire others. I was inspired by a teacher at the early age of twelve. I hope to be just like that particular teacher. Teaching takes a special person to help others reach their full potential. I hope to make a difference in the eyes of a child one day!
